If EC2 is terminated where Lucidity is installed, what
will we do with EBS volume? Will it remain idle or
terminated?
No change has been made to this configuration. The system behaves as is. Typically, when you choose to terminate an EC2 instance on AWS, the system will confirm if you want to delete any associated volumes with it; No modifications have been made to this configuration.
How will the Lucidity AutoScaler agent respond to a scenario where there is an addition of data during the buffer time of a shrink / expand operation??
The algorithm has been designed to always keep extra storage capacity to accommodate data during the buffer time of expansion/shrink without any issues. A minimum of 20-25 GB space is maintained to account for any sudden data surge.
Is there any latency introduced upon installing
lucidity?
No, there are no latency issues with lucidity operations as the Agent architecture is specifically designed to not be in the I/O path. This means that the agent communicates directly with the file system without interfering with the I/O path used by your applications. In fact, there are features in our product pipeline that would improve the latency of your existing applications by 30-50%.
What is an Azure Assessment tool?
Azure Assessment tool is an automated cloud visibility tool developed by Lucidity which streamlines the process of discovering, reporting and analyzing Azure managed disk storage to help improve cost optimization for managed disks.
What is an AWS Assessment tool?
AWS Assessment tool is an automated cloud visibility tool developed by Lucidity which streamlines the process of discovering, reporting and analyzing AWS managed disk storage to help improve cost optimization for managed disks.
My Azure cloud subscriptions are spread across multiple
Azure regions. Can I still run the Azure Assessment Tool
and collect data across regions?
Yes, the good thing about Azure Assessment Tool is its independence on Azure regions and availability zones. This script can traverse across locations to collect the metrics.
Can we revert the changes we have made through Lumen Disk Tiering at a later date?
Yes, changes can be reverted; however, this currently requires submitting a Customer Support (CS) request. Our engineering team will perform the reversal from the backend. This functionality is not yet available directly through the Lumen dashboard but is under development. The ETA for the feature is TBD.
What metrics does Lumen measure, and which are the primary decision makers?
Lumen analyzes four key performance metrics for intelligent tiering recommendations. Primary decision makers: IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second) – the main performance indicator determining workload requirements Throughput – measures data transfer capacity and bandwidth needs Secondary metrics: Latency – used to assess performance impact after tier conversions Cost – the primary optimization driver for all recommendations
